Star Parish Life


We are greatful to say that Star of the Sea is a welcoming parish. We care about our committed parishioners as well as newcomers. Star of the Sea Church has its doors open 7 days a week from 6:00am to 7pm. Our Eucharistic Adoration St. Joseph Chapel is open 24/7 for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

Highlights of our parish activities, celebrations, and social events.

Hospitality is provided by our parish ministry groups. Thanks to them we have coffee and pastries every Sunday after Mass.

Star outreach to the poor: Feeding the Homeless in San Francisco with the help of volunteers and the Sisters of the Missionaries of Charity.

We offer three daily Masses Monday to Friday, 7:00am (Latin), 12noon and 6pm. Saturdays, 8:30am, 12 noon (latin), and 4:30pm (Vigil Mass) and Sundays. 8:00am, 9:30am, 11:30am (Latin) and 7:30pm.

The Knights of Columbus serves coffee and donuts every third Sunday of each month.
“A Taste of Italy” was a successful social gathering! Our parishioners enjoyed a tasteful Italian menu, desserts and wine in a lively atmosphere, on July 20, 2019.
The reveal of the giving tree mural was well attended. We are thankful to our generous donors for their continuous support to our Painting and Renovation Funds.

On June 8, 2019 our parish community offered a warm and joyful farewell party to Fr. John Chung who is moving at the end of the month to St. Philip parish to serve as Administrator.

On May 5, 2019, 17 Children received their First Holy Communion at our parish.

May 4, 2019, Endow Retreat for Women at Star of the Sea
Thank you to the 25 women who joined “Endow” (“Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women”) on a Saturday retreat sponsored by the Archdiocese of San Francisco at Star of the Sea Parish. It was a joyful day retreat and the group was thankful to learn together how blessed we are to be women and to be reminded of how loved we are by God!
Our young parishioners enjoy sharing time with others! they bring joy and laughter to our parish events!
Star volunteers prepared special Easter treats for our little members and children visiting our parish. Lots of parishioners and visitors enjoyed the warm hospitality. Happy Easter!

The Knights of Columbus prepared and donated the food and beverages, making a welcoming reception in celebration of both St. Patrick and St. Joseph Feast.

Fr. Mark Wagner pastor from St. Joseph Parish in Modesto, was one of our guests at our first benefit dinner to raise funds to our church Painting Funds.
Auxiliary Bishop Robert F. Christian, O.P. was at our benefit dinner joining special clergy guests and friends to a successful event at our parish.
Our first Fundraising Benefit Dinner to raise funds to our parish painting funds was successful thanks to the many volunteers that not only donated their service but their financial support! Star shines thanks to our active ministries and all their members that always are willing to support our parish.
