We are proud to say that Star of the Sea is a welcoming parish. We care about our committed parishioners as well as newcomers. We greet them warmly and make them feel welcomed at all times.

Star of the Sea is one of the few parishes in San Francisco that has its doors open 7 days a week from 6:30am to 6pm Monday through Saturday and 6:30am to 9:00pm on Sundays. Our St. Joseph Chapel is open 24/7 Monday through Sunday (except from the hours of 4pm on Saturday to 9pm on Sundays) for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION On May 5, 2019, 17 Children received their First Holy Communion at our parish. Congratulations!
May 4, 2019, Endow Retreat for Women at Star of the Sea Thank you to the 25 women who joined “Endow” (“Educating on the Nature and Dignity of Women”) on a Saturday retreat sponsored by the Archdiocese of San Francisco at Star of the Sea Parish. It was a joyful day retreat and the group was thankful to learn together how blessed we are to be women and to be reminded of how loved we are by God!
May 1, 2019 Crowning of Our Lady Virgin Mary The preschool children, their families, and teachers began the month of May with a special celebration for the month of Our Lady. The children processed to place flowers in front of the statue of Virgin Mary then they all gathered with Fr. Mathias Wambua who celebrated a touching short blessing ceremony and crowning of our Lady by the preschool children.
Our young parishioners enjoy sharing time with others! they bring joy and laughter to our parish events!
Star volunteers prepared special Easter treats for our little members and children visiting our parish. Lots of parishioners and visitors enjoyed the warm hospitality. Happy Easter!
Easter Day was beautiful in San Francisco. The sunny and warm morning brought joy and energy to the atmosphere! We had a lovely social gathering where friends mingled and visitors enjoyed talking to others!

The Knights of Columbus prepared and donated the food and beverages, making a welcoming reception in celebration of both St. Patrick and St. Joseph Feast.

Auxiliary Bishop Robert F. Christian, O.P. was at our benefit dinner joining special clergy guests and friends to a successful event at our parish.
Our first Fundraising Benefit Dinner to raise funds to our parish painting funds was successful thanks to the many volunteers that not only donated their service but their financial support! Star shines thanks to our active ministries and all their members that always are willing to support our parish.
