A PILGRIMAGE TO NORMANDY

Day 1, June 2, Sunday, DEPARTURE from USA – Our pilgrimage beguins as we leave from San Francisco with an overnight flight to Paris. Dinner and breakfast are served on board.

Day 2, June 3, Monday, ARRIVE Paris – Landing around 4:30 PM. Transfer by coach from Paris. Check-in at your accommodation, dinner included and overnight in Paris.

Day 3, June 4, Tuesday, A DAY in Paris – Visit the Basilica of Saint-Denis, the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal and the Church of Saint-Vincent de Paul. Passage in front of Notre-Dame de Paris. Mass. Lunch on your own. Dinner included. Night in Paris.

Day 4, June 5, Wednesday, DEPARTURE for Rouen and Lisieux – Drive to Rouen. We’ll evoke the memory of Saint Joan of Arc, patron saint of France. We’ll visit Rouen’s Notre-Dame Cathedral. In the afternoon, we’ll follow in the footsteps of Saint Theresa of the Child Jesus in Lisieux. We’ll visit the Carmelite convent, and the basilica. Mass in Lisieux. Lunch on your own. Check-in at your accommodation, dinner included and overnight in Lisieux.

Day 5, June 6, Thursday, dir. the Mont-Saint-Michel and Pontmain – Direction Mont-Saint-Michel. We’ll be crossing the sandy bay on foot (7km), just like the thousands of pilgrims who have been coming here to pray to the Archangel for centuries. We’ll visit the Abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel. We then head for Pontmain. Mass at Mont-Saint-Michel. Picnic lunch (included). We’ll head for Pontmain at the end of the day, dinner included and overnight.

Day 6, June 7, Friday, Pontmain – Since the apparition of “Notre-Dame de l’Espérance” on January 17, 1871, pilgrims have been coming to the small village of Pontmain. Visit the Pontmain Sanctuary, then head for La Lucerne Abbey. Gregorian mass followed by countrystyle buffet and the visit to the Lucerne d’Outremer abbey. We’ll meet the monks of the abbey, have a spiritual chat, a time of adoration and a walk in the countryside. Drive back to Pontmain. Lunch included. Dinner included and overnight in Pontmain.

Day 7, June 8, Saturday, in Bayeux – The day will be devoted to Bayeux, a beautiful medieval town which was also the first French town to be liberated in June 1944. We’ll also admire the famous Bayeux tapestry (70 m long and 50 cm wide), which tells the epic story of the conquest of England. We’ll also visit the cathedral and have a walk around the city. Mass in Bayeux. Lunch on your own. Dinner include and overnight stay in Bayeux.

Day 8, June 9, Sunday, in Caen – In the morning, we head for Caen, the favorite city of William the Conqueror, Duke of Normandy. Here, he built a castle and two abbeys (one for men, one for women). We’ll visit these two Romanesque abbeys steeped in history. In the afternoon, you’ll learn about the Normandy Landings at the Caen Memorial. Mass in Bayeux or Caen. Lunch and dinner on your own. Night in Bayeux.

Day 9, June 10, Monday, D-Day Landings Beaches- Visit to the Utah beach area (La Fière bridge, Sainte-Mère-Eglise and the Airborne Museum, Utah beach, Angoville au Plain. Mass in Bayeux. Lunch on your own at Sainte-Mère-Eglise. Dinner on your own. Night in Bayeux.

Day 10, June 11, Tuesday, D-Day Landings Beaches – Second day around the D-Day landing beaches, tour of Omaha area (La Cambe German Cemetery, Pointe du Hoc, Vierville sur Mer – West of Omaha, Colleville sur mer – East of Omaha, Normandy American Cemetery). Lunch included. Dinner on your own and overnight in Bayeux.

Day 12, June 13, Thursday, Flight to San Francisco – In the morning, transfer to Paris Roissy-CDG airport, landing in San Francisco at 6.20 PM. Lunch on your own at the airport.

Tour total cost $3,900. A deposit of $1,500 is required upon registration. Final payment is due before february 15, 2024
