The Purification of Our Lady – Candlemas – Latin Sung Mass
February 2 @ 7:00 am - 8:15 pm PST

Latin Sung Mass
The Purification of Our Lady, also known as Candlemas or the Feast of the Presentation, commemorates the day when Mary and Joseph brought the infant Jesus to the Temple in Jerusalem forty days after His birth, in obedience to Jewish law. According to the Mosaic Law, this visit included the purification of the mother and the presentation of the firstborn son to the Lord.
Celebrated on February 2, this feast is traditionally seen as the conclusion of the Christmas season. It highlights Mary’s humble faithfulness and honors Christ, who is revealed as the Light of the World. On this day, the prophet Simeon recognized Jesus as the promised Messiah and foretold the suffering that Mary would one day endure.
