Star of the Sea Young Adults welcomes Catholics and non-Catholics ages 18–35 who are seeking to grow in faith, build meaningful friendships, and deepen their relationship with God. Whether you are firmly rooted in the Church or simply exploring, all are invited to join this vibrant and welcoming community.

Our mission is to foster spiritual formation, encourage a deeper life in the sacraments, and build authentic community through fellowship. We strive to create an environment where young adults can encounter Christ, ask questions, and support one another in living out their faith in daily life.

We meet weekly for shared meals, engaging talks by clergy and guest speakers, and group prayer, including practices such as Lectio Divina. These gatherings provide both intellectual formation and opportunities for personal reflection, helping participants grow in understanding and devotion.

Beyond our weekly meetings, we organize retreats, hikes, and sports, offering opportunities to connect, unwind, and build lasting friendships in a joyful and supportive setting.

Professor Matthew Thomas from the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology taught us how we as Catholics should interpret and understand the Old and New Testaments, based on the tradition of the Church and the writings of the Saints.

During Lent 2025, we went on retreat at Holy Transfiguration Byzantine Catholic Monastery in Redwood Valley, CA. We participated in the Divine Liturgy and Office, including midnight Orthos, helped the monks with daily work, and learned about Byzantine iconography.

During Advent in 2025, we went Christmas caroling around the Richmond neighborhood, first visiting the houses of fellow Star parishioners, and then going to bars on Clement Street. This picture was taken at Lost Marbles, where we got a round of free drinks

Join us for weekly basketball or volleyball in the Star gym! These evenings offer a fun and relaxed way to stay active, unwind, and build friendships within the Young Adults community. It’s a great opportunity to connect with others, share in fellowship, and enjoy time together outside of our regular meetings.

Michael Ornido is a fellow young adult and local Catholic artist who teaches at Nativity High School. He hosted an Art Night and taught us how to paint the Holy Face of Jesus.

We met up with the Marin young adults and spent the morning kayaking in Sausalito, followed by a seafood lunch!
