“Rorate caeli desuper, et nubes pluant iustum.”
“Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above, and let the clouds rain the Just One.” (Isaiah 45:8)

As Advent draws to a close, we invite you to experience one of the most beautiful and moving traditions of the Catholic Church: the Rorate Caeli Mass, celebrated in the Traditional Latin Rite in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

The church, illuminated only by the gentle glow of candles, becomes a place of profound silence, prayer, and anticipation. As the first light of dawn approaches, the faithful unite in the Church’s ancient longing for the coming of the Savior.

The name Rorate Caeli comes from the opening words of the Mass’s Introit, taken from the prophet Isaiah: “Drop down dew, ye heavens, from above.” These words express Israel’s longing for the Messiah and the hope of His coming into the world.

This Mass is traditionally offered in honor of the Blessed Virgin Mary, whose humble fiat opened the way for the Incarnation. Through her, the Light of the World came into our midst.

In the beauty of the Traditional Latin Liturgy, accompanied by sacred chant and the soft light of candles, we are invited to pause amid the busyness of the season and prepare our hearts for the Nativity of Our Lord.
