The sacraments are sacred signs instituted by Christ through which we receive God’s grace and are strengthened in our faith. The Catholic Church celebrates seven sacraments that accompany us through every stage of life: Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist (Sacraments of Initiation); Reconciliation and Anointing of the Sick (Sacraments of Healing); and Matrimony and Holy Orders (Sacraments of Service). Through the sacraments, we encounter Christ, grow in holiness, and are united more deeply to the Church and one another.
