SUMMARY:Lauds
DESCRIPTION:Lauds (Morning Prayer) is part of the Divine Office\, also known as the Liturgy of the Hours\, the Church’s daily prayer. Prayed in the morning\, Lauds sanctifies the start of the day through psalms\, Scripture\, and intercessions\, uniting the faithful with the universal prayer of the Church. \n“As is clear from many of the elements that make it up\, morning prayer is intended and arranged to sanctify the morning. St. Basil the Great gives an excellent description of this character in these words: “It is said in the morning in order that the first stirrings of our mind and will may be consecrated to God and that we may take nothing in hand until we have been gladdened by the thought of God\, as it is written: ‘I was mindful of God and was glad’ (Ps 77:4 [Jerome’s translation from Hebrew])\, or set our bodies to any task before we do what has been said: ‘I will pray to you\, Lord\, you will hear my voice in the morning; I will stand before you in the morning and gaze on you’ (Ps 5:4-5).” \n“Celebrated as it is as the light of a new day is dawning\, this hour also recalls the resurrection of the Lord Jesus\, the true light enlightening all people (see Jn 1:9) and “the sun of justice” (Mal 4:2)\, “rising from on high” (Lk 1:78). Hence\, we can well understand the advice of St. Cyprian: “There should be prayer in the morning so that the resurrection of the Lord may thus be celebrated” (GILH\, no. 38).

SUMMARY:English Mass
DESCRIPTION:Daily Low Mass (Novus Ordo – 1970 Roman Rite) – Confessions 15 min before Mass \nAt Star of the Sea Parish\, we celebrate Daily Mass according to the 1970 Roman Calendar (Novus Ordo). These Low Masses offer a quiet and prayerful setting for daily worship\, inviting the faithful to encounter Christ in simplicity and reverence. \nCelebrated ad orientem\, the priest and faithful together turn toward the Lord\, placing God at the center of the liturgy. The more intimate and contemplative nature of the Low Mass allows for deeper reflection on the Word of God and a more personal participation in the Holy Sacrifice. \nIn this sacred silence and simplicity\, the faithful are nourished by the Eucharist and strengthened in grace\, carrying the fruits of the Mass into their daily lives.

SUMMARY:Vespers
DESCRIPTION:Vespers (Evening Prayer) is part of the Divine Office\, also known as the Liturgy of the Hours\, the Church’s daily prayer. Prayed in the evening\, Vespers offers praise and thanksgiving through psalms\, Scripture\, and intercessions\, sanctifying the close of the day. \nVespers is a fifteen-minute prayer service of hymns\, readings\, and intercessions done every evening by priests and sisters\, but more and more laity is joining them. It is a special prayer because it is said by people all around the world and every hour throughout the day\, due to time changes\, the hours are prayed. In the Liturgy of the Hours\, the Church fulfills Jesus’ command to “pray always” (Luke 18:1; see also 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Through this prayer\, the people of God sanctify the day by continual praise of God and prayers of intercession for the needs of the world. \nEvening Prayer (Vespers) begins with the Sign of the Cross\, a call for God’s help\, and a hymn appropriate to the liturgical season. It continues with the Psalmody\, consisting of psalms and a New Testament canticle\, each introduced by an antiphon and followed by a brief moment of silence.\nA Scripture reading is then proclaimed\, followed by a short responsory. The heart of Evening Prayer is the Gospel Canticle\, the Magnificat (Canticle of Mary)\, prayed with special reverence and introduced by an antiphon.\nThe prayer continues with intercessions for the Church and the world\, the Lord’s Prayer\, and a concluding prayer. The celebration ends with a blessing and dismissal\, sending the faithful forth in peace.

SUMMARY:Latin Low Mass
DESCRIPTION:Confessions 15 min before the Mass \nThe Low Traditional Latin Mass is a quieter and more contemplative form of the Traditional Latin Mass. Celebrated primarily in silence\, it invites the faithful into deep prayer and reflection\, allowing space for personal devotion and attentiveness to the sacred mysteries of the Mass.\nIn the Low Mass\, there is no singing\, and most prayers are spoken quietly by the priest at the altar. This creates an atmosphere of reverence and intimacy\, helping worshippers focus on prayer\, sacrifice\, and interior participation.\nThe Mass is celebrated entirely in Latin and follows the traditional Roman Rite\, preserving the rich liturgical heritage of the Church. Whether you are familiar with the Traditional Latin Mass or attending for the first time\, the Low Mass offers a peaceful and prayerful encounter with the timeless beauty of the Catholic liturgy.\nMissals are usually available to help follow the prayers and readings.

SUMMARY:Latin Sung Mass
DESCRIPTION:Sung Latin Mass – Confessions during Mass\n\nAt Star of the Sea Parish\, we celebrate a Sung Sunday Traditional Latin Mass according to the 1962 Roman Calendar\, offered with a full choir and schola. Through sacred chant and choral music\, this solemn celebration of the Roman Rite draws the faithful into the beauty\, reverence\, and timeless worship of the Church on the Lord’s Day. \nThe Traditional Latin Mass (TLM) \nThe Traditional Latin Mass\, also known as the Extraordinary Form of the Roman Rite\, is a profound expression of the Church’s liturgical heritage\, shaped and handed down through centuries of faithful worship. Rooted in ancient tradition and codified following the Council of Trent in the 16th century\, this form of the Mass has nourished the spiritual lives of countless saints and generations of the faithful.\nCelebrated in Latin\, the universal language of the Church\, the Traditional Latin Mass draws the faithful into a deep sense of reverence and transcendence. Its prayers\, gestures\, and sacred silence reflect a profound awareness of the mystery of the Holy Eucharist—the true presence of Christ. The priest\, facing ad orientem (toward the East)\, leads the congregation in a unified act of worship directed toward God.\nRich in symbolism\, the liturgy unfolds with solemn beauty: Gregorian chant\, incense\, and ritual gestures elevate the soul and direct the heart toward the divine. Every movement and prayer is imbued with meaning\, inviting the faithful into contemplation and participation in the sacrifice of Christ made present on the altar.\nMore than a historical form\, the Traditional Latin Mass remains a living tradition within the Church\, offering a timeless encounter with the sacred. It provides a space for prayer\, reflection\, and reverence\, drawing the faithful into deeper union with Christ and His Church.
