SUMMARY:Lauds
DESCRIPTION:Lauds (Morning Prayer) is part of the Divine Office\, also known as the Liturgy of the Hours\, the Church’s daily prayer. Prayed in the morning\, Lauds sanctifies the start of the day through psalms\, Scripture\, and intercessions\, uniting the faithful with the universal prayer of the Church. \n“As is clear from many of the elements that make it up\, morning prayer is intended and arranged to sanctify the morning. St. Basil the Great gives an excellent description of this character in these words: “It is said in the morning in order that the first stirrings of our mind and will may be consecrated to God and that we may take nothing in hand until we have been gladdened by the thought of God\, as it is written: ‘I was mindful of God and was glad’ (Ps 77:4 [Jerome’s translation from Hebrew])\, or set our bodies to any task before we do what has been said: ‘I will pray to you\, Lord\, you will hear my voice in the morning; I will stand before you in the morning and gaze on you’ (Ps 5:4-5).” \n“Celebrated as it is as the light of a new day is dawning\, this hour also recalls the resurrection of the Lord Jesus\, the true light enlightening all people (see Jn 1:9) and “the sun of justice” (Mal 4:2)\, “rising from on high” (Lk 1:78). Hence\, we can well understand the advice of St. Cyprian: “There should be prayer in the morning so that the resurrection of the Lord may thus be celebrated” (GILH\, no. 38).

SUMMARY:Vespers
DESCRIPTION:Vespers (Evening Prayer) is part of the Divine Office\, also known as the Liturgy of the Hours\, the Church’s daily prayer. Prayed in the evening\, Vespers offers praise and thanksgiving through psalms\, Scripture\, and intercessions\, sanctifying the close of the day. \nVespers is a fifteen-minute prayer service of hymns\, readings\, and intercessions done every evening by priests and sisters\, but more and more laity is joining them. It is a special prayer because it is said by people all around the world and every hour throughout the day\, due to time changes\, the hours are prayed. In the Liturgy of the Hours\, the Church fulfills Jesus’ command to “pray always” (Luke 18:1; see also 1 Thessalonians 5:17). Through this prayer\, the people of God sanctify the day by continual praise of God and prayers of intercession for the needs of the world. \nEvening Prayer (Vespers) begins with the Sign of the Cross\, a call for God’s help\, and a hymn appropriate to the liturgical season. It continues with the Psalmody\, consisting of psalms and a New Testament canticle\, each introduced by an antiphon and followed by a brief moment of silence.\nA Scripture reading is then proclaimed\, followed by a short responsory. The heart of Evening Prayer is the Gospel Canticle\, the Magnificat (Canticle of Mary)\, prayed with special reverence and introduced by an antiphon.\nThe prayer continues with intercessions for the Church and the world\, the Lord’s Prayer\, and a concluding prayer. The celebration ends with a blessing and dismissal\, sending the faithful forth in peace.

SUMMARY:The Most Holy Face Devotion
DESCRIPTION:The Most Holy Face Devotion – every Tuesday in the Adoration Chapel. \nThe Devotion to the Most Holy Face of Jesus is a beautiful tradition in the Church that calls us to contemplate the Face of Christ\, especially during His Passion\, and to offer acts of love and reparation for sins committed against God. \nThis devotion was promoted in the 19th century by Sr. Mary of St. Peter\, a Carmelite nun in Tours\, France\, who encouraged prayers of reparation for blasphemy and for the profanation of the Lord’s Day. The devotion later received ecclesiastical approval\, and the Archconfraternity of the Holy Face was established by Pope Leo XIII in 1885.\nThrough this devotion\, we seek to console the Heart of Jesus\, honor His Holy Name\, and grow in deeper love and reverence for Our Lord.

SUMMARY:First Saturday Our Lady of Fatima - English Mass
DESCRIPTION:In 1917\, amid the suffering of World War I\, Our Lady of Fatima asked the three shepherd children to promote the First Saturday Devotion as a path to peace in the world and peace in our hearts. With maternal urgency\, she warned that many souls are lost because there is so little prayer and sacrifice offered for them. \nThis devotion draws us into four essential acts of prayer and reparation: \n\nAttend Mass and receive Holy Communion\nMake a good confession\nPray the Holy Rosary\nSpend 15 minutes meditating (with Our Lady) on the mysteries of the Rosary and the Word of God\n\nThe 8:30 am English Mass is preceded by Confessions and followed by the Rosary.

SUMMARY:First Saturday Immaculate Heart of Mary - Latin Sung Mass
DESCRIPTION:The First Saturday Devotion\nIn 1917\, amid the suffering of World War I\, Our Lady of Fatima appeared to three shepherd children and asked that the First Saturday Devotion be promoted as a path to peace in the world and peace in our hearts. With a mother’s urgency\, she warned that many souls are lost because there is too little prayer and sacrifice offered for them.\nThis devotion calls the faithful to offer acts of prayer and reparation—prayers offered in atonement for sins committed against the Immaculate Heart of Mary. It includes four essential practices: \n\nAttending Mass and receiving Holy Communion\nMaking a good confession\nPraying the Holy Rosary in reparation for sins against the Immaculate Heart of Mary\nSpending 15 minutes meditating\, with Our Lady\, on the mysteries of the Rosary and the Word of God\n\nThrough this devotion\, Our Lady invites us to conversion\, deeper prayer\, and renewed trust in God’s mercy\, so that peace may take root in our hearts and spread throughout the world.
