Mass of atonement 8:30am

June 27, 2020 @ 8:30 am - 9:00 pm PDT

Reparation for a Cross Torn Down

Last Friday a mob tore down the statue of St. Junipero Serra in Golden Gate Park, five blocks from our parish. The most prominent feature of this ten-foot statue was the large cross he held out over the city of San Francisco. Whether they knew it or not, the mob tore down something sacred, the only hope for humanity, and the only hope for peace and social order in San Francisco. An attack on the Cross of Christ, and destruction of the saints who proclaim it, is a sacrilege. It cries out for reparation and atonement. That is just what Archbishop Cordileone will do this Saturday at 9:30am, when he leads a rosary and exorcism prayers at St. Junipero’s statue site in Golden Gate Park. We will have a Mass of atonement at 8:30am, and then walk up 8thAvenue to the Park to meet the Archbishop at 9:30. I urge you to attend the Mass and then walk with me to the Park to pray with our head pastor and chief exorcist for the archdiocese and city of San Francisco, this Saturday, June 27.
